NEON EMPRESS · STORY 02 LUCID PINK

Lucid Pink

Some women walk into a room. Others redefine it. When she stepped in front of the lens for the 30 Women 30 Garments 30 Stories project, what emerged wasn’t just a photograph — it was a declaration. Dressed in a commanding liquid-satin silhouette the color of a neon heartbeat, she didn’t pose for the garment. The garment posed for her.

My clothes don’t wear me, I wear them

That distinction matters. It is the entire philosophy she carries into every shoot, every morning she opens her wardrobe, every step she takes in something bold.

Fashion, to her, is not a costume. It is a language — a lifestyle woven into everything she does, from the way she moves to the quiet authority of a glance.

What made this collaboration work was trust; the kind that only exists when a subject is given room to breathe. Ron had freedom during the shoots, and that freedom made all the difference. Rather than being directed into shapes, she found her own stance. Ron chose her own poses. She let the clothes reveal what they were always meant to reveal: her.

The elements that spoke to her most were the colors. Daring ones. Colors that don’t whisper but announce. In Lucid Pink, that frequency arrived in full saturation; a monochromatic satin that flickered between soft and electric depending on how the light touched it.

Colours that don’t whisper but announce

Ron most memorable moment? “When I choose my own poses, I get to find my stance. I get to choose how the clothes act and fit.” And in those frames, something rare happens — the camera doesn’t capture a model wearing a garment. It captures a woman in full conversation with one.

The stance is assertive and grounded; rooted, not rigid.

The intense colour draws the eye immediately and holds it there.

Satin texture implies fluid movement and quiet refinement.

The tension between dark mood and vibrant garment — contrast as energy.

A quiet, intense focus that doesn’t ask for permission.

When asked why she chose to be part of 30 Women 30 Garments 30 Stories, her answer was immediate: It’s for women. There’s a story to be uncovered with each garment, and being part of a collection like this is such an experience.”

Each of the thirty women in this series brings a different story to the same conversation. But this particular story — Lucid Pink — is one about the power of colour as armour. About choosing volume over apology. About being big, extra, loud, and elegant all at once.

That is her message to the designer, too. She sees something in the creative vision that perhaps hasn’t been fully unleashed yet: more extravagance, more volume, more of everything that makes a garment impossible to ignore. That’s what I see when I look ay you” — and it reads less like a request and more like a dare.

The conceptual framework behind Lucid Pink is grounded in three areas of primary inquiry.
